TriboSolver 3.3 released: clearer comparisons and more consistent results
TriboSolver 3.3 for Windows was released on 1 November 2026. This release makes it easier to compare simulations and understand results across the existing contact, adhesion, temperature, lubrication, seizure and wear workflows.
Compare results more easily
Scalar results can be compared in a table, with one row per result file. For field results, fitted 2D and 3D views appear side by side, labelled with their filenames. A cross-section position slider spans the combined coordinate range of the selected results. Plot labels use the names shown in the interface, and controls and file details sit below the plots.
Consistent names across solvers
Contact outputs in Mixed Lubrication and Seizure use the same names as Dry Contact, including Gap. Lubricant outputs remain in their own group: hydrodynamic film thickness, lubricant film shear force, friction coefficient and hydrodynamic load share.
Mixed Lubrication and Seizure results now also include plastic deformation of the surface, using the same definition and units as Dry Contact. This makes it easier to inspect the permanent surface change alongside the contact results.
A clearer everyday workflow
The release includes a consistent JSON workflow for example inputs and saved results, corrected input handling when a value is edited immediately before Run, calmer simulation selectors and revised worked examples. The retained electroadhesion example uses a rough spherical contact on a 512 × 512 grid. Non-periodic electroadhesion calculations can take several minutes.
The manual has an updated title and contents structure, consistent page width and formatting, and documentation for the calculators available in the tool.
Verification and model assumptions
The release reports use fresh calculations from the reviewed 3.3 tool. The latest runs pass all 76 required baseline regression tests. The scientific campaign completed 62 commands: 61 passed their raw checks, while one strict rough-contact reference comparison remains recorded under the existing bounded release disposition. Model assumptions and application-specific validation still matter; numerical convergence alone does not establish physical accuracy. Independent Windows, accessibility, lifecycle, display and scientific-review observations remain pending under the recorded release acceptance.
Access TriboSolver 3.3
Existing users need a valid signed solver licence. The portable Windows application runs locally without MATLAB Runtime. Close the application before replacing its folder, extract the complete package, and retain the previous version for rollback.
